Your Dog is Too Cute for Fleas!

Natural Flea Treatment

So, you are looking for a safe, natural flea treatment.  It has happened to most pet owners.  You are sitting there calmly watching TV and petting your do.  All of the sudden, you spot a flea!  Ugh!  Now your whole body starts to itch.  Fleas are gross!

You may not want to deal with potentially harmful chemicals when it comes to your dog.  There are some things you can do at home to hep get rid of fleas naturally.  Here are some natural flea treatments you can try:

  • Give your dog a bath.  Lather your dog up real well and let the soap sit for a while.  Rinse and repeat.
  • Wash your pets bedding alone.   Be sure to wash it at least twice.  Adding little bleach if possible.
  • Vacuum the area surrounding your pets bed.  Be sure to take the vacuum cleaner bag outside and dispose of it.
  • Although it is time consuming, comb your dog with a flea comb.  This will not cure the problem, but when combined with the above methods, it should make a huge difference in the number of fleas in your home.

When attempting to succeed with natural flea treatment, you must have follow-through.  You must keep your dog's fur clean, keep the bedding washed and the floor vacuumed.  If your attempt at natural flea control does not work, there are some natural products on the market.

mse - In that you are a Texan, you might already know about the folks who make those "Cedarcide" products. Their HQ is in Spring and their manufacturing place is in Conroe. They once produced bird and bat houses out of cedar wood. In a corner was a huge pile of cedar sawdust. They had 2 dogs who, one day, crawled under the sawdust and came out flea-free. Ergo- here was a new product. You can get cedar oil stuff from them. I think its name is "Best Yet." the army uses it in the Middle east to get rid of sand fleas and other pests, and it is used in the US to knock off fleas, mites, and other pests. You may be able to find references to it on the Internet.
